Office Lets Reflect St Peters Quarter Professional Services Credentials
Growing demand for small and growing businesses for offices at two locations in Derby’s St Peters Quarter reflect the area’s growing stature as a city centre office location, according to local business leaders.
City Properties, based in Green Lane, is headed by Nicky Collett who is also a Board member of St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID).
St Peters Quarter is the core of the city centre’s business and retail area and a vital link between Intu Derby and the Cathedral Quarter. It is home to over 100 professional services businesses, operating alongside national and independent retailers, food and drink and leisure businesses.
City Properties own fully serviced office developments at the Town House – a former NHS building in Green Lane; and Grade II listed The Old Courthouse in St Peter’s Churchyard.
The Town House is now full – with a waiting list of businesses wanting to move there. And more than 15,000 sq ft of office space is occupied by City Properties tenants with daily expressions of interest from potential clients.
St Peters Quarter Board Chair Stephen Jeffery commented: “Professional services businesses are a key part of St Peter’s Quarter and the BID recognises the important role that they have in the overall regeneration and improvement of the area.
“The success of the Townhouse and The Old Courthouse reflect the increased recognition amongst SMEs that St Peters Quarter is an excellent location to do business and this will benefit the wider business community in the area – providing much needed footfall and custom for their neighbouring businesses.”
Ms Collett continued: “City Properties has been established in St Peters Quarter for more than 25 years and I am delighted that a growing number of professional services are joining the established business community in this area.
“At the Townhouse and The Old Courthouse, we have a combination of start-ups, growing and well established businesses. As well as local businesses, we are attracting those from further afield in the UK including London and Sheffield who are looking to expand and have chosen Derby to achieve that growth.
“We are getting calls daily from businesses interested in our flexible range of fully serviced offices and are confident that the remaining offices in The Old Courthouse will be let in a matter of months.
“The Townhouse is a former NHS building and fully DDA compliant which has attracted businesses associated with healthcare as it is easily accessible for their service users.
“And the Old Courthouse is a particularly prestigious location with the flexibility to accommodate businesses large and small.
“Businesses tell us that they like to have local amenities close by whether that is cafes, the post office or banks. They find it easier to recruit staff due to the easy access by car, foot and public transport.
“And, as they are part of a business community both at the offices and through the BID, they have opportunities to network and do business with each other.”
Mark Bateman from marketing and business coaching consultancy Reputation Gurus has recently moved into The Old Courthouse.
He said: “We are a growing business, working with companies who sell services, products and health care to help them engage with their customers to gain feedback and reviews.
“We already work with a cross section of Derby companies so being in the city centre gives us the perfect location.
“We are determined to contribute to the overall aim to make Derby a five star location for doing business and, with prestigious office space available such as this, I am confident that this can be achieved.”
