Derby College National Competition Success
Derby College students have won a clutch of medals at the national finals of the UK Beauty Therapy and Nail Technology skills competition.
Eight students who are based at the College’s beauty therapy academies at The Roundhouse, Derby, and at Field Road, Ilkeston, competed in the national UK skills finals hosted by Cambridge College on Saturday (June 25) having swept the board in the regional competition.
Gold medal winners were Intermediate beauty therapy student Amy Smith (21) from Eastwood; and Nail art student Kristen Mabbott (19) from Littleover. Advanced beauty therapy student Mel Squire (35) from Ripley won a bronze medal; and last year’s Gold medal winner, Nail Technology student Jessica Wesson (21) as well as Advanced Beauty Therapy student Emma Bostock (20) from Burton were highly commended in their categories.
Assistant Principal Amanda Jogela said: “The competition was extremely tough this year and we are delighted with the students’ success who were fantastic ambassadors for the College and showcased the skills they have learnt her at the highest level.”
